X2go For Centos

On your first run of X2Go, the New Session dialog should appear. Configure your session as follows: Press OK to save the session. The session will appear as a grey box in the right sidebar of the application. Click once on that box. Type in your password and hit Enter. You should see a new window open, which will eventually show a Linux desktop. X2Go is a program that lets you use your account's desktop remotely. Imagine that you want to do work using DrRacket (or DrScheme, Netbeans, etc.) from your home computer but don't want to deal with the fuss of copying your work onto your CS account afterwards. With X2Go, you can use your home computer as if it were a computer in Sanders Physics. X2Go is an implementation of NX remote desktop protocol, you can use it to remotely access the graphical desktop of our Linux compute servers. X2Go can be installed on Linux, Windows, or MacOS. If you are a Windows user you can come to the DECS Support office at 1325 Engineering Building and have a pre-configured version of X2go installed.

X2Go is an open source remote desktop software for Linux that uses a modified NX 3 protocol.[5] X2Go gives remote access to a Linux system's graphical user interface. It can also be used to access Windows systems through a proxy.[6]

Client packages can be run on FreeBSD, Linux, OS X, or Windows.[7] Some Linux desktop environments require workarounds for compatibility, while some such as GNOME 3.12 and later may have no workarounds. Desktop environments that are always compatible with X2Go, without any workarounds, are XFCE, LXDE and MATE.[8]
